Hapkido

Hapkido can be defined as “the art of joining energy together”. It is offered to students who meet our minimum requirements. Some exceptions may be made and are on a case by case basis.  Classes are administered at three levels of education; beginner, intermediate and advanced using a belt-striping method.

This program is Grandmaster Tae Hyung Kim’s base curriculum and has been around since 1994. It is designed as an introduction and a great foundation for future Hapkido practice. It is practiced by many of our affiliate schools and locations. Members also enjoy seminars held twice a year.

Students can expect to be introduced to a sample of the components of Hapkido at each of the three levels, followed by a more in-depth practice later.  For example, at the beginning level students would learn a handful of techniques in each area, and once they have a firm grasp on those techniques for each level, those areas are revisited and the quantity of techniques is increased.

To name just some, classes are comprised of breathing exercises, falling techniques, resistance and motion drills, grappling, trapping and wrist drills and many, many self-defense techniques.

Hapkido is encouraged as a way for students to enhance and supplement their skills. Please note that some of the self-defense techniques are not taught to students under the age of 12 due to safety concerns.

There is no additional charge for existing students to attend classes.

Additional uniform required and belt testing fees apply. Please see Master G or front desk for more information.
